Hello all! I've searching high and low for a source of some sharpening and smooth steels. I've found some diamond steels as well as your standard butcher's steel, but no luck in finding ceramic steels or smooth steels (like the folding Razor Edge ones, but configured like a regular steel). Can anyone offer sources? On-line stores? Especially for the ceramic ones. Thanks in advance.

Razor's Edge makes a standard non-folding model. Ben Dale (Edge Pro sharpening system) sells a medium and fine ceramic steel. DMT sells Diamond ones.

Hi,
half of a crookstick "pair" (Spyderco/Lansky & many others) plus a (file-)handle makes an excellent fine steel.
Happy sharpening.

Thanks Cliff, I knew about Ben's ceramics, but they use the plastic sheath as a handle. I guess I'll have to turn some wooden handles for them. I want to give a set to my mother and another for myself. I don't want them for serious sharpening, just for re-aligning and touching up the edge. I figure one at about 600 and another at 800 or 1200. How do you find the DMT steels as compared to the ceramic? BTW, do you have the URL for Razor's Edge?
