Let me start by saying, I don't do business with that online superstore that offers Prime shipping.

So, I have been kicking the idea around about making myself some sheath's/holsters. I obviously have seen knife kits and they have 800 million different patterns of Kydex. I've pretty much read as much as I can about colored rivets and decided it may just be best to avoid them all together.

I live in Phoenix and have a few Kydex vendors in town that I could by 4'x8' sheets. They only offer 3 or 4 colors. So in my research, I found lots of Kydex color selections based on application and type. Kydex T, Kydex V, Kydex 110, Kydex 100, etc... Curbell Plastics was one place that had a pretty extensive catalog. But, it seems that without ordering a pallet of the stuff, I can't really find a place that you could buy a 4'x8' sheet of the stuff outside of colors like black, tan, brown, white.

Do any of you have an directions in which to look that I may be able to find a variety of colors in sheets larger than 12"x12"? Obvious reason for asking is I don't really want to pay $20 for a "kit" when I could pay $100 locally for a 4'x8' sheet. The local $100 price of course limits me to your standard 4 color choices.

Thanks in advance for any help.

This forum will help you much better

You can get much larger pieces at knife kits up to 24" X 48"
Most of the colors if you go more than 1 piece they make it 12" X 24"
and that will sheath most things.

mostly they do not go larger as shipping 1 4'X8' piece would cost more than the material.

when I lived in AZ, I never dealt with local folks as the type of "kydex" was the wrong material, it cost more, to get a color I wanted I had to order a pallet and the color/texture selection was not what I wanted.

I have been buying a lot of "kydex" for over 20 years and I still buy a lot from Knife kits.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the move DB, I appreciate it!

We have exchanged some e-mails about kydex in the past about using it to veneer things like game boards if that rings a bell. I really appreciate your help again.

Your pallet comment is exactly what I have run into everywhere.

You pretty much answered/confirmed everything I have heard from every plastics supplier I have contacted anywhere. You can feel free to lock this thread as I am not interested in the slightest in becoming a sheath/holster maker, I just wanted to try my hand at it and don't like the stuff I'm finding. I am annoyed at the variety of color and texture selections available at very low sheet prices should you be willing to buy enough to outfit your own 747 though. :)
