I already posted a thread in the general forum about the stuff that I bought on my very recent trip to the States. But I'm so excited about the Spydercos that I got that I just had to mention it again. I purchased:
1) Chinook II
2) Ronin
3) Centofante III
4) Stretch

Best of all, I had never seen any of these in SA, AND I got great deals on all of them, much better than I would have paid back home if they were available. (Based on what other models cost back here).

So just call me a happy chappy :D I just wish I could have got a Swick.
 
If you don't mind my asking, what models are usually available there and what do they cost?

Juji, most frequently encountered models include the Endura, Delica, Native, Dragonfly, Cricket and Rescue and can be found quite easily. If you really go on the hunt you can find a Police, Military, Salt, Dodo, ATR, Impala, ParaMilitary, Ladybug and Jester. Just to give you an indication, the Endura/Delica/Native/Salt range is usually around $90 give or take a few $ for different models. On average, a Police or Military will set you back from $185. Best price on the Civilian is $246. The Dodo averages about $138. Even the little Ladybug/Jester costs around $34. So please realise just how good the best US internet prices are. I have seen the Chinook advertised used from $200. Items I have never seen here include the Ronin, Centofante III, Stretch, Yojimbo, Kopa, Byrd. I know there are others but i don't have a catalogue with me right now.

Bok, we went over about 3 weeks ago. At that time the Rand was trading at R6.44 to the Dollar when we bought currency. Yesterday it was slightly weaker at R6.52 to the Dollar. These rates are not bad. I remember 2 years ago we were over R7 to the Dollar. About 4 or 5 years ago this was R10 to the Dollar which was quite crippling. So yes, i scored big with these purchases :D
