Just sharing a few pics of the "fighters" made by Deon Nel. These are truely exquisite. The 6 1/2" also won best of show fighter at this weekends' Cape Guild knife show.

Looks like an astute Rob Brown student (R.I.P.). Even down to the inspired logo.

VERY clean! Beautiful trio.

Absolutely correct Coop. Deon was lucky enough to learn from the master. His knives have really improved leaps and bounds these past two years and he is making some really nice stuff.

Spot on. Rob Brown was a mentor to Deon and I have to agree with Steven that Deon's current work is truly top notch. I have some of Rob's knives as well and when you put them side-by-side with Deon's current work, I cannot tell the difference without looking at the maker marks.

Deon's work is excellent and getting better all the time, but I think he still has a ways to go to get to Rob's level. I am sure that Deon himself would agree with that.

Here are a few of mine...........

Steven, I don't know if you managed to see the set with the wild olive handles he had at this past weekend's Cape Guild show, but they are superb, even compared to his previous work. I have the set with me as well as some of Rob's knives (incl one of his wild olive handle hunting knives) and respectfully to Rob, stick with my view. :) Of course, I am not a knifemaker but a collector and do concede that somebody else as proficient as Deon and the late Rob Brown may have a better sense of detail to my own, which is why these truely superb knifemakers keep pushing themselves and delighting us knife lovers.

I did see them and I awarded Deon the best fighter of the show. I was one of the organisers of the show and the chief judge.

If you saw my display of Rob Brown knives at the show you would have seen these three (above) knives of Deon's in my display case.

I certainly respect your opinion and I am delighted that Deon has loyal customers such as you.:)

That was one lovely display Steven and thanks for sharing it. :)

Deon is a great person and knife maker. Always love to see his work. That wild olive looks superb.
