I'm a Land Surveyor who stumbled on your forum by way of this thread on machete blade length. I currently use a machete that my mother brought back from Honduras. It's blade is not shaped like our traditional one, its tapered at the end forming a double blade the last few inches. A coworker has one like it from Costa Rica. I'm looking to purchase a backup in case this one is lost. The closest image I could find on the internet is on a German (I think) website, here.
I'm wandering if theres maybe a legal issue someone could bring to my attention, or maybe even where to attain one?
Any help would be great.

I love it because its lighter, and can take out 6-20" Trees (depending on type of tree), quicker than fetching the chainsaw from the truck (depending on how deep in the woods you are).

I don't like the variaty of machetes offered by "Cold Steel" because the blades are either not strait (which i presume is harder to sharpen daily), or they look unbalanced. If i am unable to find what i want I will probably try their "Spear Point", its the closest I've found for sale new.

You can always try eBay, with some patience you may find what you are looking for.

I bought an Ontario machete some years back , very sturdy construction although the handle is a bit too obtuse.

That Linden looks close. I hadn't checked ebay yet cuz i don't know exactly what to call what I'm looking for. Heres the photos i just took. (Server may time out before loading large images, they may not display; so I included the urls) http://johnhouk.homeip.net/1.jpg

I cannot get your photos to open, and I don't have a bunch of experience with machetes, but I have an Ontario and a Tramontina, and I really like the Tramontina much better. It has been a really good chopper for the money (I think I paid $10 for it).

The site I got the pic from has them for $6.41 I believe.

I see your pics now, and the Tramontina is nothing like the one you have, but it is a great deal IMO.

I need to find a photo host or something, my home server('s upload speed) is slow. I'll try shrinking the images.

I can borrow standard machetes all day long for free. But I cant get as much cut in a day. I think the big difference somehow, is the weight. Mine is lighter than my coworkers.

John, I can't get the pictures to open. If you can type what's written in the Spanish label I might be able to help you out.

I'm from South America and thanks to my grandfather who was a great fan of machetes I've accumulated quite a few as well as some information about the different brands and their history.

Is the machete in this picture similar to what you're looking for?

I've had an Ontario for years. They're thicker and well balance. The steel is better quality and so are the handles. Tramontinas are good for the price.

The really cool way to post pix is to become a member -- then you can upload your pix directly from your own hard drive to the Bladeforums servers. Click on "Upgrade your forums experience, and help support this site" at the top of any page for membership details.

You can also post pix by using another host on the web. There are several tutorials floating around the forums; you might have a look at http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=371650
