Hi - I will be moving to South Carolina in the very near future, and I'm wondering about the knife laws for that state. Bernard Levine's site has this to say...

South Carolina - 16-23-460. Carrying concealed weapons... Any person carrying a dirk, slingshot, metal knuckles, razor or other deadly weapon usually used for the infliction of personal injury concealed about his person shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, shall forfeit to the county or... to the municipality the weapon so carried concealed an fined... or imprisoned... [exempt person's own premises and peace officers].

- 16-23-430. Carrying weapons on school property. It shall be unlawful for any person [except officials] to carry on his person, while on any elementary or secondary school property, a knife, with a blade over two inches long... or any other type of weapon, device, or object which may be used to inflict bodily injury or death... a felony.

Whaddya' think? Any SC residents out there who could comment on this? I will be moving about 30 miles outside of Charleston. Is a knife considered a "deady weapon usually used for the infliction of personal injury", at least to an LEO?

Thanks all!

It isn't to me, but that doesn't mean it might not be to some officers.

Hi, lived here all my life. I've carried knives all my life. Most of the time you have NO problem unless you get in trouble with the law over something else then they nail you with everything they can. I got in troble only once at a high school game. But it worked out ok. The problem in SC is the property taxes. They will kill you.
