Believe it or not, I was working when I took these pictures. The grounds are well kept, hats off the crew they done a great job. I am working in the Irrigation controller retro fit project on this one of many parks in Los Angeles county.

We have a lot of work to do, but this one is precious. I am thoroughly impressed at the quality of this landscape, and I get to see the good, the bad, and the ugly. This one is great. Municipality managed sites are thier own animals. I am pretty impressed with LA county parks, for they keep their parks pretty nice, but this one is a jewel. I hope our controllers save them water, and keep the grounds beautiful. It can be done, but it will be a daunting task. I am all in, and proud to be a part of this project.

Hope you enjoy the pictures. I was here today to get one of the controllers linked up to the web. They each have a modem, and link through GPRS communication, which means nothing to me, I am a horticulture guy with a minor in Irrigation design. I do not mind if you call me flower boy, for this is spectacular.

My wifey oooohed and ahhhhed at this iceplant bloomer, but it literally is March April then gone. I like a longer blooming period, but it is impressive none the less. Lampranthus spectabilis, IIRC.

that is blue spike iceplant, and makes a great ground cover. If you throw in some orange succulents and some crimson red Aoeniums aka Black Beauty Aoenium, you are a Hollywood Hills green industry mother earth worshippin' landscape designer tree hugging super star. Trust me, I know about these things..
LOL.

Not too shabby for a parking lot!

Verbena, early for the year, but hey, when it blooms it is spectacular.

The background is a big fat Raphiolepis hedge, but the Snow in Summer ground cover was eye squinting, not sure the camera caught what I was seeing..

yes, CJ will have a pond in his back yard. I believe by fall, I should be working on that area. Steady as it goes. I will post my progress of my yard soon, my neighbors compliment regularly, I try to stay humble, and remind them for how long it looked like crap. It was Spark's fault, for BF took up too much of my time to landscape. Curse you Spark! Aarrrrrghhhh

I need to remember these, but may change my pond idea slightly different. Looking forward to that project.

the simple lines of this landscape are amazing, and I am not a worthy photographer of what is going on here. If any of you pirates are close to LA, stop by, this place is amazing right now.

It does well with low water use plants.

Verbena is a wonderful plant, but no room for it in my yard.

I am a stingy bastid, and if I can get alsrtoemeria growing like this, I will save myself a bunch at Vons Floral for cut flowers, and can buy a Chimay Blue instead! Yeah for flowers!!!!!

here is the rub for me on Alsrtroemeria. It is an heirloom plant for me. My mom died mid last year. I got her most of her stash for her yard, and she loved Alstroemeria. I tried to find her different colors when it was her birthday/Mother's day. Since we will probably be renting their hosue for awhile, I decided to dig up and move her Alstroemeria to my house, where it will be coveted.

Turf is not my thing, but they hold weddings here, so they gotta do what they gotta do. I just want to promote a wonderful thing...

coral tree Erythrina is a great looking tree right now, orange is such a vibrant hot color, but these trees need room to grow. If you like orange, it is a tree for you.

I hope at least a few of my pictures captured your interest. If you are in the south bay area, and never seen this garden, go for it, you could do alot worse. Lots of great things going on here.

Cheers...
