Southard Grinding Issue

My Southard started grinding when nearly open. Either it's new, or I just noticed it. It's the lock bar rubbing against the blade after the detent ball loses contact. Is there any way to stop this? The blade flips open fine, it's just annoying.

Don't flip it in slow motion. Honestly, I use the flipper and it opens so fast I don't notice any grinding.

Oh, definitely. It flips awesome. I only notice it if I open it with the hole or sometimes when closing. I was thinking I might try polishing the side of the blade a bit.

Mine did that exact thing for about a week, then went away. Either there is some crap in there or a bur developed and will hopefully wear away with more openings. I suspect the burr theory was what happened in my case.

Didn't even think about a burr. I had done some sanding and polishing of the scale and liner, so that's probably what caused it. The grinding has already started to go away.

I wouldn't worry about it. It will go away after use. I've had a couple frame locks do that, one of them an XM-18. After some break in it will go away
