I bought a new southard...
I love it, awesome knife, but the lock is kinda sticking when I go to disengade it, not terribly hard, but enough to notice, kinda makes a click as well...

anyone else have this happen, is there something I can try to do to take care of this?

heres a shitty video

Put some pencil graphite on the lock surface and see if it improves. Never had an issue with mine.

It is also an indication to use your knife frequently. :-) Graphite will ease it. Alternately, try tweaking the pivot a bit.

How would tweaking the pivot have any effect at all on lock stick? I havent had any issues with a sticky lock on my southard. It has, however, broken in a little. At first it only met the tang with the very edge of the lock bar. Now it seems to be making contact with a larger area. Perhaps your lock will get less sticky once it has settled in.

Because it changes the angle at which the lock bar sits relative to the blade contact surface. Actually, even tweaking the frame screw along with the pivot can ease the sticky lock.

I have handled MANY Southard's and almost a third of them had some sort of mild stick on the lock when disengaging. One was pretty bad and it got sent back. I have two currently and one has a mild stick, while the other is smooth as butter straight from the churner.
