Hi - just received a Southard, and it appears to have a slight lump in the blade on both sides. I'm certain it wouldn't be noticeable except for the shine on the blade, but have a look and let me know what you think. I've circled the area:

Yeah - the pic isn't great, it appears as two parallel bars coming down from the logo. In person it's a bit more evident, particularly when reflecting light from a lamp.

It's probably a slight wobble in the grind. Does it bother you?

No, it leaves me alone for the most part :D

Was more curious if anyone else had seen such a thing. Otherwise the knife is flawless, lockup, centering, deployment, fit/finish....

I've seen similar grind irregularities on other knives. Spyderco still manually grinds knives I believe, not cnc or whatever.

Can't see anything but, given that counterfeit Southards exist, my first question would be, are you sure it's legit?

New? Where did you get it? Dealer?
If so, send it back for an exchange if it's bugging you. In my experience if it's bothering you now it will forever.

New from Spyderco (via Amazon) - no indication that it's a clone (weight, visual queues, etc). I may just send it back - I just hate to since every other aspect of it is flawless, just flawless....

So then why send it back if it doesn't bother you and everything else is flawless?

I'd honestly send it back and wait for one to pop up on the Exchange here. You'll find one cheaper, and the chances of it being a counterfeit are much lower.
