So I got tired of waiting for the fellow who was going to modify my G10 scale to "fix" the asymmetry by thinning and 3D sculpting, so took a shot at doing it myownself. First, I figured that a circle that inscribed the triangle cross-section of the scale was about the diameter of a small can, so I ate what was in the can and removed both ends. I then used duct tape to tape sandpaper to the inside of the can creating a concave sanding surface, and then set about sanding the scale. I started with 80 grit and finished up with 180 grit and also did a bit freehand when I was about half finished. This is the result. Apologize for the video quality but the scale has a kind of woody look like a piece of black walnut. Not much texture though, so it loses a lot of the grippiness of the rough/flat G10 that was originally there. Anyway, it works for me:
