Southard Shiny clips

I don't like the shiny clips that Spyderco has been using on a lot of their knives recently. I got a Southard recently. I really like every thing about it except the clip.
I have heat treated the clips on the 3 Millies and my Manix 2 XL.

Has anyone done anything other than stonewash or acid wash with the clip on the Southard ?

Can anyone who has sw the Southard clip. Can you give a brief explanation of how you sw the clip.

If you don't have access to a tumbler you can do the water bottle stonewash. Get a water bottle, cut it in half. Put a couple inches of small stones (can be any stones depending on the aggressiveness of the SW you desire) in the bottle, put the clip in, spray some WD40 into the mix, slip the top of the bottle over the bottom and secure it with duct tape or something. Shake for all you can handle and it will give it a wash. I did mine for at least 20 minutes. My stones were a bit smooth so it wasn't as aggressive as I'd like. I need some different media. I think those little ceramic triangles you can get at Harbor freight do a great job?

I took a torch to my original, then I got an STR low rider, he bead blasted it.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I have a brass tumbler for cleaning brass for relaoding that uses corn media(for polishing) I used it yesterday with just a little bit of brass and no media. It didn't do much to the clip.
Today I used some stones I found on the side of the road. I put the clip in the tumbler for almost 2 hours.
The clip has a nice stonewash finish and isn't Shiny Anymore!

I think it looks Much better with a stonewash finish compared to shiny.

Edit: I'll have to use my grinding wheel and dremel to round off the point on the clip.

PICS or it never happened :D

I used a Gatorade bottle to stonewash my clip. Used small pebbles I bought at a hobby shop, tossed the pebbles into the bottle, added a couple drops of oil (I used 5w30, had it lying around), wrapped it up in carhartt insulated overalls and tossed it on my dryer for 2 cycles at 30 mins a piece (no heat). I checked the progress after the 1st 30 mins an decided to give it another round.

Edit:I might add that my clip now matches the blade in texture perfectly, it helps tie the whole theme of the knife together in my opinion.

I sand the clip with a medium grit paper, and then use a scotch bright pad.
Takes the shine away, and gives it a somewhat hand rubbed finish look.
I can't stand a shiny clip.

I acid etched mine then stone washed it. Looks great Imo.

I'll see if I have any pics on my phone. I'm at work right now.

Fraid not, I'll take some when I get home.

I put my clip in my tumbler with stones for another 3.5 hours today, a total of 5.5 hours.

I think the Shiny clip looks a Lot Better stonewashed! It goes with the sw aw ti back Much better IMO.

Other guys think so too or they wouldn't be stonewashing their clip................

Bead blasted screws and clip then acid etched and tumbled. Pointy ends rounded off
