The S.E. Custom Knife Show will be coming around again this September 7th and 8th. For more info on the show, visit this page: http://www.ncknifeguild.org/NCShow.htm
Once again, this year I will be organizing a dinner for Friday evening, September 6th. This is open to anyone who is on any of the knife discussion forums and who will be in town that weekend either as an exhibitor or attendee. This is a great tme for us to relax and visit with each other, share in friendship and, of course, great blades. Last year we had about 26 enthusiasts, dealers, and knifemakers who attended the dinner and all of us had a blast (not to mention, seeing the phenomenon of John Fitch extracting himself from the backseat of my friend's Toyota
) If you are interested in attending the dinner, please email me at knifenut@triad.rr.com or respond to this thread no later than August 23rd, so I can make reservations at the restaurant. I will then add you to an email list to keep you informed as time gets closer.
In addition to the dinner this year, on September 7 after the show closes, Darrell Lewis of BodyCote is inviting all those who are interested to tour BodyCote's new coating facility in Greensboro, NC. Their facility is about 35 minutes drive from downtown Winston-Salem (where the SECKS is held) right off of Business I-40. Darrell is planning an educational and fun evening for us, which will include a catered dinner at the plant, followed by a presentation on knife coatings, and finally culminating with a tour of the facility in which we will actually see knife blades as they go through the coating processes. For more information or to put your name on the list for the tour, feel free to email Olga Smith at osmith@bodycote-na.com. I will also post more info about this when Darrell passes it along to me.
Hope you all can join us for the fun!
