Southern Comfort style sheaths

I am looking for a good quality kydex or concealex sheath that would allow a medium/large knife (specifically a Fallkniven A1) to be carried comfortably and unobtrusively.

From what I have read, the perfect sheath would be a Southern Comfort made by Mike at rivercitysheaths.com . The quality of Mike's work is commended on every thread I have read. However, a search on the forums appears to indicate that Mike is snowed under with orders for a considerable time (from my reckoning from threads, it could take up to eight months and that's a long time to be without one of your favourite knives), and Mike apparently is sometimes hard to contact by email.

Are there any other sheath makers out there who make good quality Southern Comfort style sheaths?

Nope

The one and only who makes them at all and makes them correctly is Mike.

When you order a custom handmade knife, you can wait up to a few years.

I don't believe he's eight months out on sheaths right now.

Thanks for your info. I sent Mike an email a couple of days ago. From every thing I had read Mike's sheaths are quality products and you've confirmed one of a kind. I'll just bide my time and wait for a reply from Mike.

From my experience, Mike can get snowed under, but not perpetually so. And yes, I have handled one of his SC sheaths and my, what a work of art. You will be proud to own it and handle it. Simple kydex becomes a thing of beauty in his experienced hands. And the function of this sheath is so cool. Here this thing is, holding between your waistband and skin with a stud, no real attachment on your person, the knife is secure, yet it draws smoothly and almost silently, without the sheath moving from it's location. What a joy.

You could luck out and find him almost available to make it very soon. Call him and see. Understand that he goes to a lot of shows to show at, and also takes courses in knifery, besides doing river rafting.

You might also want to contact Normark -- his Concealex sheath for my F1 is one of the slickest designs around... extremely versatile. I usually wear it IWB and it is darn near invisible. I'm sure he can make one for your A1 -- probably has them in stock.
