So, i acquired a Copper SG Spider Monkey a day ago brand new still in it sealed bag. Love everything about that knife from the heft to the smell it gave off. But out of the box, i noticed a quite noticeable detent slop. Other than that it locked up solidly when deployed. I know, i said to @alliuse that i can live with it but upon some given thoughts about it, im not entirely certain if it's okay anymore. Do you think it might affect the action in a long run? Your thoughts about it? Should i return for that issues? Or live with it as it is perhaps minor? I paid $385 canadian rubees which is roughly $286.98 usd. I think the knife should be at least quite perfect. My Rat 1 can achieve that given the price i paid for it.

That is quite significant. I have three Spider Monkeys (no copper though) and none of them have detent rock. I would either have the retailer exchange it or send it to Southern Grind for a warranty replacement.

I have one that has a little bit of play but nothing like that, send it back, that's significant.

Let us know how they treat you. I have 3 SG's but have never had to use customer service, curious how they take care of it.

I will try to return it through my dealer first, it's much more painful to send back to warranty from Canada. If things doesn't turn like i want i'll send it back to the manufacturer.

That’s a lot of detent rock imo.
I just pulled mine out of the box as I just received it a hour ago. It’s the CF version and that’s the one thing I didn’t check until now and fortunately there’s none what so ever and really is a perfect example. I’d exchange yours and see how the next one is. I wouldn’t think it would be characteristic of the copper scales since it’s a liner lock but you never know.
I hope your next one is a perfect example because they are great knifes !

I bet your next one will be fine
I feel your disappointment though as I went threw a similar situation with a Medford but with horrible lock stick so bad you almost couldn’t release it. Had to do a exchange but switched to a different Medford model and fortunately that one was good to go.
