- Emerson also licenses the Wave to various other companies, like Spyderco and Fox Knives. He's also allowed custom knifemakers to use the Wave in one-off knives. My theory sounds somewhat accurate. I guess kershaw used this ish. Emerson must be a nice guy, just letting another dude rip him off and then have the nerve to half ass the thing. sorry just ranting...
I like the design and it is very reminiscent of the cqc 7. Never seen the steel they use...sounds like chinese stuff. 14C-28N

14c28n is a perfectly fine steel...
It's a decent steel, but for a knife of this price point, it should be something like 154cm, CPM 154, or s30v, something of the sort.
To use 1428cn, is like using AUS8 on a $160+ knife.
154cm is basically the same performance. Ankerson's tests put it in the same category as 154cm at 61hrc (with 60 about the highest in production it ever goes, maybe 62 in customs), and a quick google turns up Emerson's 154cm is at 57-59, so it possibly out performs them.
You may be right, but it doesn't compute. Kershaw uses the same steel on their low priced offerings. Like 25 dollar knives.
Most of their low priced offerings are made in china with 8cr13mov. The 14c28n is on their American made knives...
Exactly, and they still cost around 25-40 bucks.
Still don't understand this argument... Spyderco uses S30v on 80 dollar knives, and Strider uses S30V on 500 dollar knives... doesn't mean the S30 isn't good enough for an SMF.
