I was wondering if there were any left handed people out there carrying a Sage 2. I already have one on the way so there's no talking me into or out of it. :)
I want the knife I'm just wondering, those of you that have swapped the clip for left handed carry have you noticed much if any scratching on the handle and is it odd having the "outside face" of the knife being the frame lock side?

Just looking for opinions.

Thanks

I don't carry mine, but I will say that IMHO Sage I and II are about as lefty friendly as it is possible for as a right handed Walker or Reeve integral lock to be. As for the clip, I doubt it would scratch one side any more than it would the other.

When I switched the clip there were some light scratches where the clip contacted the scale.

I sold it, but not because it was not lefty friendly. I just never warmed up to it. It is a very well made knife and well executed. It is easy to open left or right handed.

I love the Sage I and it is in my top three Spyderco models.

I'm not so much worried about scratches, I was just wondering about it.
I have no doubt about it being user friendly. I'm used to right sided liner and frame locks. Actually it's been an adjustment with the LH Military I have. :)
I have a Sage 1 and it works just fine. I guess I'll find out but with the RIL being on the right side and the clip being on the left I'm curious if it will look....well, odd. Backwards so to say.

Know what I mean?

Some people say that they think it's harder to unlock a right handed liner/frame lock if you're left handed, I have never understood this. I am left handed and I have tried it both with left handed and right handed liner and frame locks and I actually think it's much easier to unlock the right handed version of the knives with my left hand, both with the edge upwards by using my thumb and with the edge downwards using my index finger. Another problem you encounter on some liner/frame locks where the locking liner is on the right side, is that there is not a big enough cutout for the thumbhole on the locking liner side, therefore making it more difficult to access the thumbhole with your left thumb (Benchmade Dejavoo is a prime example of this). This is however not the case on the Sage 2, so you shouldn't worry about that neither.

Enjoy your knife!

Yeah, I'm used to opening liner locks with my index finger. That's why the new lefty Sebenza and Military were awkward at first.

Thanks for the replies. I was more wondering if it just looked odd and backward with the clip being on what amounts to the "face" of the knife.
I'll find out tomorrow. :D

I swapped a Sage 2 clip for left pocket carry and its a piece of cake to opperate lefty.

I had no fear that it would be a problem operating left handed. I'd wondered if since it was a frame lock if the cutout for the lock, and having the clip on the LH side would ruin the looks and lines of the knife.
It doesn't look too bad. I'm already carrying it in EDC rotation.
