There are a few knife designs that are simply "Classics" such as Jerry Fisk's Sendero, or a Loveless drop point hunter.
Harvey Dean's Southwest Bowie is about as classic as classic can get, imho.
This example may be his nicest Southwest to date. A 10" tight (did I say really TIGHT) ladder pattern Damascus blade, and a Damascus guard backed up by a framed Elephant Ivory handle with gold pins.
Sometimes collectors can get too caught up by the newest, latest and greatest, must have knife and maker. Harvey's work is so great, and has been for such a long time, that I think we may almost take it for granted.
I hope that this knife makes you look hard at Harvey Dean's incredible skill, as if you were seeing it for the first time.
