Back when I was in the PI, these wall plaques were easy to buy. We bought a couple back in the day, but I've since lost them.

They look something like this product in the following link:
Filipino sword wall plaque product

But they used to come in much larger sizes with a lot of different weapons.

I searched on the net, in ebay, and can't find other offerings. Does anybody know where I can get them?

Thanks, Federico!

Man, I can't believe I bought a product from my top link, for almost the same product of your link which is at a fraction of the cost. I think the top has a couple more swords but the price is like three times more. Yikes!

i do illustrate alot of tribal designs, and in the near future i will be doing a wall of tribal with these swords, i am looking into framing these with 1" dowell rods that i will fire harden and design them so that the frame will look like fire hardened rattans. will keep you posted.

You might want to hold out and check e-bay for an older one. Do a search on Moroland. The newer ones don't look as nice and the blades don't even resemble the real thing.

I found several that date back to the 60's and I have one design that is a velvet flag backgound and the handles are kamogong wood. The new ones look like they were snipped out of old beer cans.

Unless you're really hard up for one, I'd keep looking on ebay as they do show up quite often. I did a search today and found 3.

Awesome tip! I was searching on the wrong keyword before. OK, I'm going to be keeping watch. I know there are some larger, more elaborate plaques made that I hope shows up in ebay one day.

It would be good, however, to hookup with a dealer directly, if these things are still produced somewhere.

The new ones that are junky looking are still produced ala the earlier link. However, the true old ones, with weapons that actually resembled real weapons, are far rarer (eg. the ones from say the 30s), and can be pricey when they pop up (hehehe we all seem to like em ;) ). Though it seems the new one gets the crazier and less in touch with the reality of the swords they become. I got one (gift) a few years ago, had a plethora of Christian sword names, and then the blades :barf: Oh well, good luck on your search.

Well, I just got one from ebay, and yeah, you're right, it can get pretty junky. Good thing I spent only $5.99. It's difficult to tell the quality of this product in ebay, but I'll keep my eyes open.

I was wondering why the plaques I've seen on the internet look so bad, with various weapons not resembling real ones at all. The ones I remember looking at as a kid were far more detailed.

A bit off-topic; the joke sometime back that went "You know you're a Pinoy when. . ." included owning that particular item.

We've also got one here somewhere. Probably 40+ year-old already.
