Hello knife friends.

I new fellow here.

Lives in northern Sweden, close to the Arctic Circle.

I spend all my life in the forests around here.

Well enough about me..

I am a knife collector and been it for a long while, I have looked for a Sowbelly Muskrat knife for quite some time now, but still have not found it.

The Muskrat must have a Clippointblade & a Droppointblade.

Anyone know´s who makes that kind of knife?

You got some pics??

Regards The Swede! :)

Hi, and welcome from another member of the BF Euro team :)
I can't help you, but I'm sure others will give you some info on such knife, if it exists. Personally, I'm aware of none, at least in current production, but I might be missing something.
The best shot I can suggest you is the GEC 81 coon skinner, but it might be a little different than what you're after.

Hello!

I know of the Moore Maker sowbelly moose:

But it's a clip and a spey blade. I don't know if I've seen a sowbelly frame with a clip and a drop point but perhaps someone else does.

Good luck!

The Moore Maker is what I thought of first. The spey blade could easily have the top line sanded down forward of the nail nick to make a drop point.
A ½ hours work at the most.

Yes, perfect. That is exactly the kind of Muskrat I want.

Anyone else who make them?

Why is it not a more common model among makers? I find i perfect with the two diffrent blades, and nice to hold in the hand due to the sowbelly shape.

And it is a beautiful model...why not?

You should be able to find one of the John Primble Texas Jacks, They were introduced in 1989.

I've got one around here somewhere, but it's used, with patina.

I'll do a little Google search to see what pops.

Thanks for your input. Really nice to help me.

I don´t know anyting about John Pimble, is it a good brand?

Regards Mr Landén

John Primble was the house brand of Belknap hardware, an American distributor. They also sold knives marked Blue Grass.

Belknap went out of business around 1988 or so.

The Primble knives I've pointed out to you are reproduction, but made by Queen Cutlery in Pennsylvania, a reputable company still making good to high quality knives.

You would not be disappointed in the John Primble Texas Jack.

I sent you a private message re' one for sale on the internet.

Welcome to the forum. Not sure what you'd be willing to pay, but if it's an option, you might consider commisioning a custom maker to make exactly what you want. There are a lot of very talented custom slip joint makers that post frequently here. I've seen amazing sowbellies by Rick Menefee, Dr. Tabor, Brett Dowell, and Jared Oeser to name just a few. Best of luck to you in your search.

Hello.

Thanks for your help.

I can often pay alot for what I really want, but this time i´m going to use it as my fishing/outdoor knife and due to problems with loosing items :) , I think this time I´m going to buy a standard knife.

The two knifes suggested, the yellow one, and the John Pimble is exacty the kind of knife I´m looking for, and at the right price aswell.

Regards mr Landén
