What is your preffered sox to wear in the jungle? If possible (I am African after all) a little detail on what they are, would be helpfull.

Recommendations on sox in a desert boot would also be welcome. Desert one I found pure wool great in winter but a sauna in summer ...... what new sox have the highest wicking capability without a load of downside to them for summer use?

I usually wear a plain synthetic or cotten/ synthetic blend sock in the jungle. No sock is going to dry out or effectively wick water away from your foot in a wet boot and when constantly being soaked over and over during the day. So the effective way to dry feet there is to remove socks and boots when the end of day arrives. Rubbing feet down with hand cleaner (gelled alcohol) will wick a lot of water out of the skin. I don't really know what works in the desert. Mike

in southern utah I generally wear wool socks made by bridgedale or smartwool in my boots. they do a good job wicking, don't smell horrible at the end of the day, and the light- and medium-weight socks stay surprisingly cool. for really long hauls I'll add a polypro or merino wool liner to help stave off blisters. most of my summertime desert clothing is lightweight wool, it performs really well in a desert environment.

wool... wool wool wool wool and wool. Wool in Florida, wool in Wisconsin, Wool in San Antonio and Houston, wool in Idaho, wool for water sports, running, cycling etc. Columbia midweight hikers are my favorite (Don't ask me why, i've spent 3 times as much on the fancy brands like North Face and Smartwool and they are the most comfortable, wick the best and last the longest)
