Hello all,

Simple question are they the same and if not
which web dealers have them

The c15 is an older Terzuola design and is no longer made (I think). The Starmate is brand new and is still a little hard to find. You may be able to find both of them though. I had a c15 and really liked it but traded it in a moment of poor judgement. I've missed it ever since. To make matters worse I traded it to a friend who used to punish me by taking it out and using it in front of me all the time!

Keep Em Sharp

good question clyde. which web deales have a starmat in stock yet?
As for the difference of the two models the C-15 has a sheepsfoot blade ( spyderco calls it a modified drop-point blade)while the starmate has a sharper point that reminds me more of a drop-point and a spear-point.
You can take a look at it at spyderco's homepage: www.spyderco.com . You'll find the c-55 in the news-section.
hope this helps.

If you can find a C15 at a reasonable price, snap it up. I have one that has only now, after I don't know how many years of continual use, been replaced by my new Military. While the anodized aluminum scales show wear and the blade shows signs of having been used and resharpened, it is still as smooth acting and as tight in lock-up as the day I bought it. As an aside, it is one of the original, serial numbered production.

Clyde,
Like stated above, the two are not alike, and are really for different purposes. The older C15 model is best as a utility folder and the newer C55 is really a tactical-style folder. Of course, any knife can be used for a multitude of purposes, but some designs are better at certain tasks than others. The older C15 would make a poor defense knife for stabbing if needed, where the newer could be used for that plus utility needs. Of course, it would be nice to have both, but if it must be just one, I'd personally wait for the new one to be more available, as they're just starting to come out of the factory. I have four of the older C15's, so you can tell I love that knife! But, it does have its limitations. It's a great working utility knife, though. I'm patiently awaiting the new model...

I forgot to add that I won't sell any of my older C15's!!! No way! But, I think entreprise (www.entreprise.com) might have some left, you'll have to check. Otherwise, you'll have to get one at a knife show from a dealer that might have one left. I know a local (S. Chicago, IL) dealer that has one or two of the G-10 combo-edge versions that are NIB. Email me direct if you want his contact info.

Take care,
Chad

Thanks,

Saveman, I was just curious but you did answer alot of questions I saw one on the web for 92.00. (Good Price?)

Hi Clyde!

I recommend you buying the C-15. I even think the price is good (at least I paid more). I think this knife is a classic, a must-have-item.
As for the stabbing abilities, I don't care too much as the point is not the sharpest but very strong.
enjoy!
