Picked up a three-pack of them a week ago on ebay...nice little knives, figured one goes into the collection and the other two to each of my sons.

Now, the question: these are nib, with papers but no lanyards. On each blade it's engraved Complimentary Knife 2000

What's the significance? Thanks for helping a newbie out.

I'm learning...and in the last two weeks have added a very cool 141OT with sheath, a 6OT, and a 8OT.:)

I like the "complimentary" knives and pick them up when I can for the display show below. I always figured the knives were given to favored customers and such. The Old Timers are my favorites; they have a fancy trimmed shield on them, as well as the blade etch and year issued. What I have so far is:
34OT -> 1982
12OT -> 1992
194OT -> 1984

At some late point, Schrade seemed to quit using the old timers. I kinda suppose your knives came from the factory sale after the end of Schrade. They probably were not given away during the year they were marked, and just stashed. All kinds of strange, bizarre, unusual, cruddy, wonderful knives have been surfacing lately on ebay and at wholesalers. Some of the stuff is great, others merely half-finished works. Anyway, I think all the 'compliments' knives are cool.

I pulled the insert out of the display a while ago and took this pic, had to add another knife. Besides 'compliments' blade etchings, there are 'NRA', Orgill Bros, Quail Unltd, Ducks UnLtd, 'Keen Kutter', Camel cigarettes... just as long as there is a blade etch, it goes into the proper hole in the display.

Keep us posted on how your collection-- and that of your sons-- growns!
