Which one is the best Bowie for an all round utility tool? The Ontario SP5 and SP10 both have 10 in blades, so what is the difference between them? The Ka-Bar only has a 9in blade, does this make a huge difference? Where is the cheapest place to buy them?

Please post a link, I cant find the right ontario model. However, IMO that inch of blade will not make much of a differnce.

All 3 are 1095 steel. The only difference is blade shape and handle, and that is subjective to your own personal needs.

Without looking up these numbers, I suspect you are referring to the Survival Bowie and the Marine Raider Bowie. The Marine Raider is a stout piece - sabre ground - it's really a sharpened prybar and very heavy.

I like my ontario marine radier alot but the sheath is not the best in the world but I just have to get around to makeing a better one sometime.Take a look at the kershaw outcast I have had one for a while and it chops real good and holds a edge, I have used it for several skinning jobs just to try it out one 700 steer calf and a deer that I got and it did good for that it has had some edge damage from chopping when it hit a nail hidden in a tree but it came out easy.It would have to do with what you are going to do with the knife if you are going to pry with it alot the kershaw would not be near as good and the 1095 in the ontario would seem better than the d2 in the kershaw but my outcast has seen alot and is still in ok.If you want to dig, pry, and chop then try the survival machete that ontario makes it is a good tool but the saw is about worthless.
