SP53 actual weight?

Google-Fu says 22.4 oz.

I ordered one and got a very uneven grind where the saber grind was uneven causing the blade edge to have a twist to it. BUT getting a shipping label to send it back to OKC. The warranty was secondary when ordering the knife but turned out to be pretty important! NO COMPLAINTS HERE! My other OKC knives are great! Just can't wait to get this one out in the field!

I find I like my SP-51s (got a second one when found it they are discontinued) for chopping and Batactitoning (Tactical Batoning!) with the straight blade and spear point is great for field work, figuring I can get another SP-53 later on as its a better chopper from what I scene so far. One SP-51 is packed in a bug out bag, my SP-10 is my "Beater Knife" and is holding up well.

My heaviest knife is 21 oz wsk. I wanted a significantly heavier, weight forward chopper. The reviews I saw on the SP-53 are great, and referred to it as heavy and massive. It looks weight forward, so I was interested. I looked up the weight on-line and saw 22 oz, which is not an improvement over 21.5 oz. I posted hoping that a user would tell me it was heavier. I never got a response, so I bought an 18" 30 oz HI Khukuri. The SP-53 is still on my list. I understand that customer service is pretty good at OKC, so I imagine they'll take care of your grind issue.

I've got a listing of 1.37 lbs, which would be right around 22 ounces. The SP-53's power will come a little bit from weight, but is mostly going to come from the blade shape.

Roguer,

Sorry to hear about the grind, but I'm glad customer service is taking care of it. Let me know if you need anything.

Oh they are, I'm sure it will be OK. Seen a lot of good CS being down about OKC, my other 3 OKC knives are superb! Only problem till that one was my SP-51 some how I made a great factory blade as dull as a butter knife with a Honer that worked well on my SP-10! I took it to the honer maker and their blade master put a new grind on it for me. When I showed them how dull it was I (as in ME not OKC) made it some how, him and the office lady flinched and jump the way I ran the blade on my arm. The Blade Master asked "How did you do that?" and I paid a small fee sharpening fee and now got it sharp again, VERY sharp, sharper than factory edge sharp (guess where I'm getting my knives sharpened when I abuse them to dullness). Heh then I got another SP-51 when I found out they were being discontinued. That honer works great on my other knives, I still wonder how the heck I did it! With the SP-53 once I get it replaced I'm going to be using it for clearing a lot of stuff! The stuff where I plan to use it is just to thick for a machete and two dangerous for an axe to use, since the moose(s) moved on the dang alder brush is getting to thick.
