I was very generously gifted this 112 by a fellow forum member. I am wondering, would the Factory be able to smooth out the micarta scales at all? Or refresh them when I send it in for a blade replacement? If so does anyone have photos of before and after? Also would it be too late for a 50th anniversary anvil stamped blade being it’s already September? So
I’d get the 2023 with that unpronounceable symbol for date marker haha.

An inverted two line blade stamp, with micarta scales. That would seem to be one of the earliest versions of the 112. I don't think I would be having the blade replaced if it was mine. That blade doesn't look that bad to me. But it's your knife do as you like.

This is from the document in the first post in this thread.

"Buck Ranger, Model 112 Timeline 1972 to 1986

Category I, Inverted stamp: BUCK,U.S.A., May 1972

Version 1.Left hand stamp, brass spring holder, black micarta inlays, two small, (less than 1/16”) brass inlay rivets and stainless rocker rivet.
Version 2.Same as above except now a stainless spring holder.

Category II,Stamped BUCK, 112, U.S.A. 1972"

I would love the opportunity to show you the work that Danny can do. Please send your 112 in to me directly. I agree, that I would not have us change the blade. It does appear to have a couple of popped rivets but we can fix that. We have seen them way worse and I think we can even out that micarta. Unfortunately replacement micarta inlays are not available. Please address the outside of the package

Much of the 'Collector Value' of this one is in the blade. The blade grind itself is slightly different from later versions. If you plan either to use it or just admire this cool early 112 Buck WILL make it beautiful!
