I just now scored this potential SPA candidate off Ebay , and have a question or two because I've never sent a knife in before.

This early 704 Maverick looks to be in relatively good condition in these pictures, but I think it might be worthy of a SPA treatment, I've gotta try the service out eventually.

I don't currently have the ability to print things, because I need to get my bluetooth printer set back up, and paired with my laptop if the ink is still good ( gotta find and redo the setup / startup program ).

I'm wondering if I really need the official form, or will it work to just write down every bit of information the form is asking for ?

Also I'm wondering if it's possible to have them round off the corners of the scales and bolsters like a later production 704 ?
Not necessary but I'd probably like it a little better that way.

I'd think you're better off having the printed form.
You could go to the library and print one off there.

I've done some work at libraries lately and was surprised at the number of people going there simply for internet usage. 👍

I might do that, but whenever I go there I worry about the librarian who might remember me and the book I didn't return 20 years ago, it's a long shot but I figure a librarians gotta have a good memory 😁

I need to get my printer going again anyways and this might be the motivation I need.

I have always been pleased with the spa service I have received. I would suggest sending your knife with the form, detailing what you would like done. IF nothing else, copy the form freehand from their site.
Let them decide if they will do it and if you will be charged, how much. HTH

If I may...what's the average turnaround time?
I think you can expect months right now. 2 knives I sent in for SPA arrived in Post Falls April 12th, and haven't come back yet. But that's okay, the quality of the work is usually awesome, and with the cost being so reasonable, it's well worth the wait.

I can print you off a couple of copies and mail them to you.

I sent a couple in the second week of May and got the email to pay last week and she said 5 weekish.
So about the same as the custom shop? I realize good things come to those who wait but, I thought I'd never get my custom 110...but I did. :)

I have a 55 all boxed up and a completed form inside.

I plan to mail it Tuesday when the post office opens back up.

It is not for a spa treatment, but rather a very loose blade.

It will be kinda neat to compare turnaround times and results.

I really hope I end up liking it.
I was lucky enough to score it for $29 shipped, so I figure at that price I can pay for a SPA service and still be in it cheap enough that I won't feel obligated to like it.
The odd 700 series grinds tend to put me off, but they don't seem to stand out like a sore thumb on the 704.

Why not try it for a bit first, see if you like it before spending the money for the SPA service? Or is there something in particular that needs addressing (other than rounding the corners)?

I can live without having the corners being rounded if that's even something they'd do, but the bolsters look a little rough in the pictures.
I'll have to decide what I want to do when it arrives, because I'm sure I can just spiffy them up myself without much trouble.

I figured I might as well finally see for myself , but with the turnaround time maybe it's best to wait till I have something that really needs it.

I really jumped the gun on my question, because this knife isn't even close to needing a SPA treatment.
The pictures don't really do it justice and it's as close to mint as you can get on a knife that hasn't spent it's entire life in the box.
It's still hair popping sharp too.
