While I know I could simply call CRK and ask, but it's more fun to ask my friends:

I've seen many different answers for this question, some "yes", some "no" and some even half way...but does anybody know for sure if they can, and what the standard procedure for a spa treatment on a Sebenza 21 with Micarta Inlays would be? Has anybody sent theirs in before in the past? If so, how were the results?

I just got my knife a couple days ago, and I certainly am not in need of a spa treatment just yet, I would just like to know what all can be done in the future to restore the knife after the wear it will be put through.

I suppose I would like to hear anyone's experience on the Spa Treatments for any of their knives too(as I'm sure this won't be my only Sebenza :D), if you have the time of course

Thanks!

The micarta is easily strong enough to handle blasting. If you call CRK and ask, they will say that they do not blast handles with inlays. Now, with that being said, I have asked for misc. hardware installation (dbl. lugs and the like) and they have blasted the slab to look new again. Funny, I know.

Now I guess that's where I have heard conflicted stories. I've read in other places where they will only blast inlay versions if they are the micarta....but now that I think about it as I'm typing this, the wood inlays are polished and not blasted anyways(except the lockbar). Correct?

I blasted G10 and micarta many times in the past to get a nice dull and even finish. It is fine to do. But in that case they are worried about it getting in and under the inlay into the bonding tape.

correct

So does that mean sending my 21 Micarta in for a spa treatment would be pretty much useless? Unless it needs sharpened?

I'm almost positive they will re blast the whole thing for you. The micarta is the only inlay they will do that to.

IMHO unless there is an issue with your knife,"Spa" treatment is an un -necessary separation. Most forumites , including myself, feel the more you use it, the better, and more personal it becomes… wear it out and you have the right to retire it in a frame! Can't imagine NEEDING a new one!WANTING is another matter! Bart

I got a scrape in my damascus, sent it in and it went away. Didn't ask how they did it, don't recall if they charged me, but I was thrilled with the results.

I sent in a small plain 21 for spa and double lugs and just got it back today. I sent it off on July 25 so it was gone for 6 1/2 months!! It was like getting a new knife after that long wait but it was worth it for the dbl lugs.

The info of what they will and won't blast is all on the website. I've heard some say that they regretted getting theirs reblasted as they felt it dulled the corners and the logo. I received my minty fresh, never been coon fingered by anyone else but me, Umnumzaan yesterday and that feeling of perfect, brand new sandblasted CRK titanium is something else for sure, but I know in my head it won't last long and I'm ok with it. YMMV

Count me in that category - but had no choice, since I was having an old Regular double-lugged, which required removing a little material on the lockbar side.
