Does Bucks Spa treatment include grinding a new point on a blade? Local pawn shop has a 3 blade stockman(don't remember the model) for a good price, but the last 1/8" or so is broken off the main blade. Thought about grinding it myself but if Buck does it, Spa treatment plus the cost of the knife still puts me below the value-and I don't lose the original blade.

Call and ask them.

If you go to the Buck site and check out their Forever Warranty, you'll probably find the answer to your question.

He'll have to go there for the form to send it in. I don't remember anything about retipping a blade though...

I would think they would touch it up. Probably a note with the knife would help.

This is what I found. Tell them what you want and hopefully they will be able to do it.

Can I send my knife to the factory to have it sharpened?

Buck Knives does provide a SPA service for only Buck branded knives which will put the factory edge back on your knives and give it a basic polish. The charge for this service is $6.95 per knife and includes shipping your knife back to you once done.

I broke a blade or have sharpened it so much it is unusable; can you replace the blade for me?

Buck Knives can replace a blade not covered under warranty for a $10.00 fee per knife.

Depending on the size, it hard to believe you aren't going over the value of the knife when all is said and done. Initial cost + $8 shipping+$pa service +10 for new blade. A new little trio can be had for around $23.

I think I'd rather just buy new.

They will reprofile a tip, possibly under warranty, or they would replace blade if too bad.

I thought the blade replacement price included the SPA treatment.

My bad. I think you are right. I just wanted to make sure the OP realized the total cost. Even with free spa service. Without purchase price he will be into it for $18.

Depending on model handle material rareness sentimental value. It may or may not be worth it.

I waited till I had three knives to send to optimize shipping cost.

Just being devil's advocate.

I sent a 112 (cost $5.00 at a flea market) with a broken blade in for spa service, they replaced the blade. Knife plus shipping plus spa was less than the cost of a new 112 by a few dollars. Then a sheath cost $$10 at SMKW. Still I think I made out, and the 112 had nice solid wood scales.

You did make out, but a 112 cost more than a stockman. I've got a smillar 112 waiting to go back.

Wish I could just walk into Buck.

Went in to the pawnshop planning to buy that little knife(it's a 303 by the way, did end up buying it but likely leaving it as-is-lots of honest wear). BUT, they had just added a 118 to the display case that followed me home. Pre date code, lots of life left in it.

I sent a 110 in about a year ago with about a 1/4" of the tip snapped off. Buck replaced the blade. I wish they could have kept the original date stamp (just a 1994, nothing special other than original) and repaired it. Maybe I just asked wrong, but I think a new blade is what you'd end up with.

We can re-profile that for you. We can't change the blade out, we would have to replace it with new model if tip is too bad to be re-shaped. Send it in as a warranty claim stating that you want it re-shaped and we will get it looked at for you.

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff, I just got my 11 knives back from the SPA treatment. Your employees did an outstanding job on all of them. I had a variety of model #'s 110, 112, 500, 124, 119, 903...
