Thanks

Ok , so if I send it in for spa treatment. Let’s say they clean up blade and sharpen. Will they strip it and give it a bare steel finish ? Then after hearing above responses, I’d spray with Krylon industrial rust tough. It’s a really tough flat black spray paint.
I have to say I’ll probably never use this knife again. But I have so many great memories attached with it :-) I always remember going with my Dad or Grandfather to gun store or hardware shop. I always went right to the Buck knife display !!!!

Thanks :-)

I kinda meant the Rustoleum comment as a joke. Many blade coatings don't look good once you uses them. That said, Nighthawks that were not coated had a bead blast finish. Not a great picture but the finish is bead blasted. I don't think Buck will do this for you but no penalty for asking. BTW... why not use it?

I kinda thought you might be joking on that :p:p That bead blast looks great !!! I’ll have to ask about that.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use it if I had to. But I have others and would just like to retire it and keep for sentamental reasons.

If you get your Nighthawk looking all new again... you know it's going to need a new sheath...it never ends.

As luck would have it I make leather sheaths ;):):)
But your right it never ends.

The nylon sheaths are not pretty but are more practical in the field.
Gonna need a fancy leather sheath if you want to wear it as your Sunday BBQ knife

I like that your wanting to keep it for all the right reasons.
Myself, I would oil it and keep "as is".
The wear on the knife is part of those memories in my mind.

Good luck in whatever you chose.

Thank you :-) I am considering doing just that. I may just put a nice edge on it, now that I know how to sharpen lol. Then build a nice black leather sheath for it.
