Space pen leaking

Well the ink clumps up at the nib and I seem to have to wipe it off everytime I use it.

Mostly it just sits in my mission wallet. I would say it gets used about 3-4 times a day...if that.

I've had the pen just under a year. Is this normal or is there such a thing as an ink cartridge warranty?

That's a defective cartridge. There were some around a while back.... If the clearance around the ball is slightly too much the pressure will squeeze ink out even when you're not using the pen. Fisher will replace the cartridge if you send it to them.

P.S. Either that or it's a cartridge that's almost out of ink. After re-reading your post I'm no longer so sure you haven't used it up -- if you've been doing a lot of writing with it for almost a year, you did.

That's the way they usually act when they're running out of ink -- instead of just ceasing to write without warning, the last of the ink starts getting squeezed out between uses and it'll get worse and worse until you decide you've had enough and replace the cartridge.

Thanks for the info Coug. I suspect it is a faulty cartridge as it really hasn't done a whole lot of writing.

Usually just to sign my name or initial something.

BOK,

I have had to send back a few fisher cartridges before for clumping. Great thing is, they fit in a regular envelope with a regular stamp and I always got a replacement within a week or so.

Cool thanks guys. I just e-mailed them. I'll wait for their response before sending anything if at all.

Thanks for the link to the spacepens site, I've never seen them before. Which pens do you folks EDC? Some looked thicker/more comfortable than others. That titanium nitride version is a beauty!
