Spacer incorporation?

I have very thin spacers, maybe 1/64" or 1/32", a lot like poster board for a very slight detail on handle.

I'm wondering what the process is of getting them in there, and keeping the handle just as sturdy with only the epoxy and scales?

I'm concerned that they wont stick to the wood as well, and I'm also concerned that they won't have a long lasting bond to the steel.

First sand your scales and cut two pieces of the spacer material the same size as the scales.sand one side of each piece of spacer material lightly.Mix epoxy and stack it.Scale, epoxy, spacer material, wax paper, spacer material, epoxy, scale.Clamp w/spring clamps and let sit overnite. Then atttach to the knife.

It does not seem like there should be an issue, like sbuse said but be very carefull on the pressure, dont squeeze out the glue. Remember the glue only need to bond to the spacer, then the glue will bond to the steel. if you have doubts glue up a test piece and try and take them apart.

Like you, I've found materials that I hoped would make good spacer material.

TEST THEM!!

I tested them by sandwiching them between a piece of steel and wood, the same as they would be in real life. Usually one side or the other would fail to hold. I would not use this material as a spacer next to the tang of a full-tang knife but would consider it as a spacer next to a finger guard in a hidden tang knife.
