G'day, been a bit of a lurker around here for a while, have just recently got really interested in the game and started putting some gear together. I am about to finish the first real serious one soon and will post some pics when done.

I have tried to find a tutorial on fitting liner/spacer to the handle in the style of along the tang and up the back of the bolster, like this

http://www.knifemakersdatabase.com/...Knives/CustomKnivesKalfayan/CustomKnife1L.jpg

My question is , is this done in one pice with a sharp clean bend in the material or is it done in two pieces ?

The fella who has been showing me the ropes does his in two and gets them very neat, but I am concerned that this may be a bit fiddly for the learner.

All help appreciated:thumbup:

Cheers

It's done in two pieces.

I've seen some that were so well done that you can't see a seam!

Yep - it's done in two pieces. I find that I can get the gap to (almost) not show up if I bevel the touching edges of both pieces to 45 degrees (assuming you're not making a tapered tang knife). I just find that I get a cleaner fit that way - as always, YMMV.

If you score it real well with a sharp knife it will bend 90 Degrees just fine. It least it does with the material I'm using.
