I love my BK-16 but the handle is just too narrow. I am looking for someone who can make me a set of spacers to thicken up the handle. I know people make them out of dvd cases, floor mats etc. but I am all thumbs when it comes to things like that. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You are just selling yourself short. Seriously. Its dead easy. Try it. You can do it.

MRN8. He is the only one I know that has some skills that I have seen selling them. I'm not sure if others do too.

Mrn8 doesn't make them anymore. They really are easy. Just trace a handle out into your material, mark the holes, cut it out, and drill the holes out.

Here is how I go about it.

1. Find a suitable material, I typically will use any type of thin plastic I can get my hands on.
2. Cut two rectangles out of said material that are slightly larger than the outline of the handle scales.
3. Using one of the handle scales as a reference, drill a hole through both rectangles. (I usually with do either the top or bottom hole on the handle scales.)
4. Bolt the material you are using for liners between both handle scales.
5. Rotate the backside handle scale out of the way, and drill the other hole (if I did the top first, then this time I will do the bottom).
6. Bolt through the hole just made.
7. Drill final hole, no need to bolt this one.
8. Taking a sharp knife (razor knife works fine, box cutter, etc...) cut the liner material to even with the handle scales, being careful not to cut into the scales themselves.
9. Sand the material. For many plastics, the action of cutting will turn the plastic a lighter tint or even whitish, this can be remedied by very quickly exposing those edges to flame from a lighter.
10. Take apart, put on your knife, test fit, finish sand as needed until you are done.

Good luck, and post up pics whichever way you decide.

There you go...... 10 easy steps. Awesome instructions Derek.
And since the tweeners come with two sets of scales, use the one you don't like so if you cut or scratch while shaping liners, it's no big deal.

Follow Derek's instructions. Yellow G10 comes out like this:

I was going to recommend you hit up tommythewho. I don't know if he sells 'em separately, but he does offer liners when you buy a set of scales.

Then, I remembered I have some "Practice" ones left from my BK16:

1 pair each in:
.030 aluminum,
.080 chocolate-brown kydex, and
.040 off-white plastic sheet similar to kydex.

They're not perfect, but they've all done service on my 16 and all fit. The brown ones were my favorite, so they are of course the most tired looking. Also, they make it tough to cinch the factory sheath. I wear XL gloves, and these fit really nicely with the stock scales.
Drop me a pm with you addy and which pair you'd like, and I'm happy to forward them along.
I'd offer to bring 'em to you, but I don't think we're making our annual pilgrimage to Pismo Beach until April.

Thank you for your very kind offer. I can't PM you for some reason. please e-mail me at jmbass33@gmail.com. Thanks.

The thick Kydex ones are on their way.
You'll probably need to get some longer bolts to secure them. I didn't have any left to send.

According to the Becker database http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...lade-Database-!!!-(News-Knife-Specs-and-Data)

Standard are 8-32 x 1/2". Adding .160 means you'd want about 5/8 or even a hair longer (21/32 or 43/64, anoyne???.) I couldn't find any locally, so I got 3/4" long (which I have found at HD, Lowes and OSH) and cut to length with a hacksaw or Dremel. Just make sure to screw a nut or two on prior to cutting, or you'll never be able to get it to thread again.

Enjoy them!
