This is a 5160 and spalted koa bowie that I forged out and just finished up. This is my 3rd finished bowie. Comments and Critiques welcome. :) Silicon bronze and copper guard, mustard finish on the blade.

Great looking Bowie, fantastic handle material, and nice guard but I must confess that I'm not at all a fan of the 'mustard' finish. :o

NICE. I especially like that spalted Koa. I think I would prefer a hand rubbed satin finish but that looks pretty good.

That's a great looking knife, hard to believe it's only your third --- Nice work!

It is my third bowie, probably my mid 20's as far as knives go...

I did have a satin finish on it, but I wanted to antique the look and darken the blade a bit so I patina'd the blade with mustard. I plan on using this knife for a while so I gave it a user finish :)

As for the Koa, it is from Alpha Knife Supply, a company I am very fond of and they have excellent service and wood selection. I am biased though as my wife runs the company. :)

It looks great  The mustard finish for the blade, the spalted koa as the handle and the silicon broze as the guard came out as a matching combination overall  The design of the blade, handle and guard also matching nicely with eah other  You've good imagination Jon :)

BTW Jon, it should be given a leather sheath with a matching design and finish as well, just my 2 cents :o

Jon that is looking good I like what you did with the bronze and copper the wood is killer and the finish on the blade is over the top. with that said you did ask for some critique so if you would have put a copper and bronze behind the guard as well I think I would like the knife evan more then i do now. It is very nice and you are doing good work see you soon.

Dave I agree, it does seem to need something behind the guard. I think on my next one I will do that. I am thinking about doing a bronze ferrule behind the guard that is grooved for the next one. :) I really enjoyed working with the bronze, it is so easy to work.

Very cool I have a trick to show you on doing the grooves that helps big time.
