Hey everyone, this is my first post in C&H because I feel it is my first knife somewhat worthy to be posted here. I know its nothing compared to most of what is usually seen here, but I am happy with it :). It's something different from what I usually make. It was made from AEB-L and is about 7 1/2" overall with stabalized spalted maple handles. Now a little about me, my name is Drew, I am 15 years old and I have been making knives for about 1.5 years. I work in my shop in the basement and have probably made 30-40 knives. My family is very supportive, and my dad has even become my sheath maker :D Thanks a lot for checking it out and I would love to hear any comments or critiques from you guys.
Thanks,
Drew

Welcome to the madness.....:D

I look forward to seeing more from you.

Thanks! for posting.

Very nice job Drew, your shealth man did a good job also, nice package. Thanks Dad for being supportive of your young son, keep him busy and close and you will not have to hunt for him. Good job again Drew.

Nice, clean work. For myself, I prefer the look of three handle pins, but that's a personal preference.

Trying to dig my brain.
Looking for my old memories.
So far i can remember, on your age, i did nothing as exceptional like what you did.
You are talented.

This is awesome. Try adding some jimping and file work on some of your next knives. This is just beautiful though. Two thumbs up!!!

Looking pretty good there "Hoss". That sheath work ain't too shabby either.

Assuming you have the heat treat nailed, the blade geometry down to a science, and the handle work useable and comfortable........ then think... "Fit and Finish". Everything from the blade finish, handle finish, sheath finish....

Looks like you are well on your way for a young man.

Robert

Thanks verisharp, I might try some jimping in the future.

Mr. Dark, thanks a lot for the comment. I didn't do the heat treat, I send all my blades out to Peters. I think the blade geometry on this one is pretty good, nice and thin. The handles feel pretty good to to my smaller hands but I'm not sure how comfortable they would be for someone with big hands. I need to work more of my fit and finish, but I see it getting better on every one I make :)

Wow! For a 15 yr.old, that is awesome! Sharp blade, gorgeous handle, great proportions and gorgeous sheath. Impressive work! Looking forward to more.
