Spalted Maple LE Sebenza: Photos Don't do Justice

I have been keeping an eye out for a LH Large Sebenza. I normally carry a Small Sebenza or a Mnandi with the occasional diversions to my Umnumzaan and a William Henry. I wanted the Large Sebbie as a middle ground knife size wise. It's bit bigger than the small and smaller than the Umnumzaan.

Unfortunately I ran across a pair of limited edition, left handed, spalted maple Sebenzas in the for sale forum. I had to make a deal for the pair and just got them today. These two knives are beautiful. I'd seen digipix of them in various places and frankly the pictures don't do them justice at all. The contrast of the dark spalted maple against the polished Ti is striking. The blades are polished to a higher finish than my Mnandi but stop short of a mirror. The gold thumbstud is not too much and is quite subtle. They have markings that my older small Sebenza lacks: the much maligned "Idaho Made" is there as is the the CRK logo and year of manufacture and I don't mind any of them. They both have the burgundy lanyard with the gold anodized ring. Both have a fine edge and are easily shaving sharp. The action and lock up is exactly what I would expect from a fine tool.

I couldn't be happier with them. I plan to carry the large regularly for a while to see how I like it. I use the clip and always attach my knife to the outside edge of my left front pocket. Now I know, carrying an LE Sebenza as a EDC knife may seem like sacrilege to some. I bought both of them as users. I don't spend my days prying doors open and batoning through logs with my knives. I'm an engineer you see, white collar job, with a large component of field work in my profession. I use knives as knives as needed and when needed. Some honest wear doesn't worry me a bit. It's just like the holster wear on my old Ruger Blackhawk: it just reminds me of a life lived and a good tool used for many many years.

I guess all this to say: "Hot dang! These are nice." If you get the chance to buy one I highly recommend it.

Good for you and carry then well. I carry a large LE sometimes in the field as well although my profession is dirty and sooty at times.

Great scores.

Nice score! I suggest carrying it in a CRK leather sheath to keep the the ti prestine while being able to edc at the same time. Keeps your amazing knife looking great while you still get the
satisfaction of carrying your knife everyday.
