Spalted Maple

I bought 5 blocks of splated maple and 3 are really nice and the other 2 are dogs. Each block when cut into scales should make 2 sets of nice scales after stablizing them. Should I cut them into scales and then send them off to be stablized after drying for a few weeks? These will be real nice once they are stablized and I've never done it before so I need any help I can get.

I would leave them in blocks. There might be slight warpage in the process, and you won't lose anything that way. You might talk to Mike, here, and ask him about drying.
