You should modify a fork or use two small nails and a piece of wood. Just mark the spots and nail them in so they stick out a good 1/2 inch.
That is if you want to spend no money at all.

You could use a pair of C ring/snap ring pliers. The ones from Channellock are high quality and come with (iirc) 5 different sized pin tips. One ought to fit the holes in the Mudd's pivot. You can also get sets of 90* pins for them in different sizes (which would probably be better for a pivot). The 6.25" 926 pair is the cheapest (~$25).
edit: D'oh! Matt beat me to it with a cheaper option. I still like the 926's.
edit 2: Just looked 'em up, and the 926 does come with two 90* pin sets in .036" and .047", then three sized of straight tips. :thumbup:
