What do you like better? What performs better in your opinion? I just ordered a slicer but im kind of wishing i held off until i found a spanto. Oh well im sure ill enjoy it either way.

I like the slicer better in 3" as better for, well, slicing (it's a smaller thinner knife, more suited to slicing than, oh, cutting holes in car doors), and Spanto better on the 3.5" because it's a bigger more overbuilt knife, slightly more suited to hacking through car doors*.

* (do not use either knife this way under normal conditions, save that for car accident scenes or the zombie apocalypse.)

Depends on many things including personal preference or how one plans to use the tool most. For those just wanting a robust folding knife in their pocket for day to day things the slicer grind may get more votes while those a bit more hands-on w/ working tools may prefer Spanto.

I like slicer on 3", Spanto on 24 and every grind on 3.5s.

And I'd take a Spearpoint in evey folder and fixed blade Hinderer creates...just sayin'.

I've not had Hinderers nearly as long as these other guys but I've been able to get samples of each production grind. Generally, I prefer the look and strength of the Spanto blade. Putting it to use recently, it ripped through the rib cage and breastbone of a nice buck effortlessly. Then, just to test the Skinner in doing what it was designed for, I grabbed the Skinner grind to.....ah, skin the deer. When it's cold and your hands are wet, it really matters to have stout tools to make quick work of dressing and butchering a deer. My order of preference 1) Spanto 2) Skinner 3) Slicer 4) Wharncliffe. I'm sure there are other opinions. Those are just mine.

Hmmmmm......the age old question returns......spanto or slicer......????
I do not rip through deer or car doors very often......actually, I can't remember ever doing either.......I open a lot of packages and usually need to pull out an XM at least a couple time a day for something......but I would have to say I have never had cause or reason to test the limits (or even come close) of my Hinderers.......
So for me......it's really which blade shape I prefer........
The flippant answer is "get both".......the honest answer is......"get both".......
You won't be disappointed.......
If you can only have one.......you can't make a bad decision......they are both awesome......

I'm in agreement with Falcon. I probably will never take my knife to the limit so it comes down to preference on shape and look. Having said that I absolutely love my spanto. Also being very robust,if I'm ever in a situation where I have to push it to the limits...it's there. I doubt I will ever be using my spanto and think, "Man this thing just isn't slicing like i want it to.I wish I had a slicer".Having said that,I have never handled a Hinderer other than the spanto so I'm in no way diminishing the slicer or any other blade grind.

I also agree. I probably wont benusing mine to do anything to crazy either. So i know the slicer will probably work just fine for me. But it would give me peace of mind to know my tip will have almost no chance of snapping if i had the spanto and ever had to use it in an emergency situation to do something crazy.
