was thinking last nite
that i dont see much(or any) mention
of having a spare pr of glasses in yr bobs
something i realized for myself mostly
my farsightedness in near perfect
but can hardly read a thing without reading glasses
(if the suns bright or there is exceptional lighting otherwise i gotta have reading glasses)
carry a spare pr of cheap ones($9 for 3 pr at you know where)
reckon i need to put at least one if not two spare prs in my bob
i keep em everywhere else...desk, car, workbench
edc bag, etc
which got me to thinking further about binocluars monoculars etc in bobs
i do keep a small monocular in some of my bags

you guys?

I have to keep a spare pair be it an old presript or new.. If I don't I'll have trouble trying to do any fine work, or Id'ing things that might be important like edible plants..:D...

I keep my last prescription ones in my bag when I get a new pair. Ever try digging out a splinter without glasses? It`s really no fun.

I also keep my last prescription pair in there. I have perfect vision out to about 20", then I can hardly recognize people, can't read street signs, etc. Since my emergency bag (don't really have a BOB because I don't plan on Bugging out) is in my truck, this is also a good way to keep a pair of glasses with me should I ever loose a contact or get an eye infection.

Laser eye surgery is probably next year if all goes as planned :D

I keep a 2 yr old, prescription in my truck and last years prescription in my BoB. The computer screen is blurry w/o glasses for me. Not a candidate for traditional lasik according to my Doc. Not sure what else is out there for people with my astigmatism.

Instead of keeping last year's prescription glasses just buy your current one online. The only downside is that you may never buy glasses from the optometrist or eyeglass store again. :)

I've ordered from both of the following places and they'll get my business in the future. I bought one pair from each place; single vision, metal frames, sunglasses for one and a light yellow tint for the other. Total cost for both pair including shipping was under $60. If you look through Gadgets and Gear you'll find several threads about them and many satisfied customers.

I keep inexpensive reading glasses that I buy at a pharmacy or department store , everywhere ( truck , work , BOB , etc. ) They are a great back-up if I lose or break my expensive presciption ones.

One fellow I know keeps a pair of the damn near industructable sports glasses in his BOB.

I have multiple pair at all times.

A pair and a pair of prescription sun glasses in my vehicle.

A pair in my desk at work.

An extra pair and a pair of prescription sun glasses that I carry in my EDC bag.

These aren't all current prescription, but they're all close. My prescription doesn't change much, so I can get by wearing 4 year old glasses in a pinch.

Spare glasses was the first thing I added to my grab bag. Since I'm badly myopic, it's a case of survival for me. Even if I had the best survival skills in the world, with the highest quality gear, it wouldn't be worth a rotten rat if I couldn't see what I'm doing. So I keep an older one in a rigid case along with some paper tissues to clean the lenses.

gazz98 ditto to you brother. lots of us forget how important good vision is for close work.knife use without specs is scary.
