Every time I enter the forums I get a grey box that says "Error in script" I then click ok and it goes away but everytime I switch forums say from the Auto forum to say the good the bad and the ugly I get the grey box .This has been going on for about a week now.It does not happen with any other web site period. Only bladeforums which leads me to believe if its only bladeforums then its hopefully something I can adjust with your help if you know what I am talking about. At first I could live with it but now its getting to be a pain in the ass clicking ok all the time.Have you ever heard of this Spark? Plus if you can help me fix this I am more then willing to overlook your Boston Accent remarkLOL
Thanks
Bob

Sounds like an AOL problem, as per usual.

Minimize AOL, launch Netscape or IE externally, and see if that fixes it. If not, contact me again.

I tried as you suggested and still get the grey box.The thing is I have discovered all this happens when I use my back button if I go to the bottom of a page and hop to another forum it works fine. The only trouble with that is I can't look at last posting dates and have to go in blind. As I said before this is only happening here not on any other forum. Is it me?
Thanks
Bob

The only thing that Javascript is used for on our boards is to set the cookies, IIRC, so the problem may lie there, though I'm not sure.

Let me do some more research on this and I'll try to see if I can dig anything up.

Just read your message. I wasn't able to last night when I opened this up even though it said 3 replies upon opening it only showed 1 reply no matter how many times I hit reset.Anyways I appreciate you looking into this for me.This is the only site I care about and it figures its the only one that gives me a hard time LOL
Thanks

Which version of AOL's browser are you using?

You may be falling victim to a proxy server which could be caching the pages that you go to, preventing you from seeing the most recent versions.

Hi Spark
I'm on 4.0 I tried punching in bladeforums.com normally instead of hitting it on my favorites. I avoided getting the first grey box. I was able to go very quickly to your front page but when I hit enter the forums "BAM" the grey box again. At first I thought that was the answer but I guess not.

You said that you tried minimizing AOL and launching Internet Explorer externally. Have you tried using Netscape?

Yea I tried netscape the first time and still got it. I tried knifeforums and now I get it there. So I then went to the BM forum and that one works out fine. So since I'm getting it on knifeforums now to it must be me but I don't know whats causing it or how to fix it. Could it be something off or not clicked correctly in the various settings in the control panel area ?

FYI -
I can get the JScript error also. It's in Line 31, Object doesn't support this property or method, if I remember correctly.

This occurs with AOL 3 and 4, but only with IE3 (I have two computers running IE3.02), launched within or external to AOL, doesn't matter. Apparently IE5 has a little more stretch in handling JScript, and no error shows up using that browser with AOL 4.
All tests done on pcs, no macs.
Note: Read the reviews (like cnet.com, etc) before upgrading browsers. Hope this helps!

IE 3x and AOL 3 have very limited (like almost no) JavaScript Handling skills. That's why I recommend Netscape as a browser to just about everyone. IE 5 has made lots of improvements, and is very integrated (like completely) with the Win9x OS, but I still prefer Netscape. Less problems, more reliability.

This morning I was still getting the same message I just figured its something I have to live with .I just logged back on and I am not getting it anymore I can jump from forum to forum like normal. I don't understand what had been happening the last month that now it has stopped suddenly any insight as to why the situation has ended so I can avoid it in the future?
Thanks
Bob

It sounds like the browser doesn't like the setting of cookies or Javascript.

Here are your options: Upgrade your browser. Turn "Accept all Cookies" to "on" (in preferences). Turn on Java and JavaScript. See what happens.
