Spark Arrestor Option?

Hey folks,
I came across this little piece of kit and wondered how it would fit into a dust collector set-up. Not that I am questioning the physical "fit" as it is 4" diameter stove pipe... but would it still allow dust to pass through without getting clogged? I am hoping that someone might know the construction details of these things.

Sorry... I can't seem to separate the picture from the webpage. Not trying to deal-spot.

Looks interesting but I would want to see a cut-a-way drawing to see how the sparks are arrested.

I believe it's just a plate in the middle to break up the airflow and the sparks fall out when they try to float around the plate.

What about having a T pipe with the mesh at one arm and a clean out at the bottom of the T? That way when you shut off the system, the dust falls to the bottom and you can just open it up and clean it, would that work?

I just recently saw an ad for Nordfab's new "in-line spark trap". Designed specifically for dust collection systems by the makers of a great, if rather expensive, duct system. They have a pretty cool video of the spark trap in action. There's supposedly nothing to clog, it works by breaking up the laminar air flow in the duct and cooling the sparks with turbulent flow. I have not seen one in person yet, but plan to install one if I ever get around to putting dust collection on the metal working belt sanders in the shop
