Spark, I would like an infraction reversed, please.

I posted in community this morning that I'm going to be doing a radio interview this evening. For this I was given an infraction by Ken C. I do not make any money, nor receive any other compensation, for discussing politics on the radio with a friend of mine who's moved from New York to Delaware (that's where the show is now based). I simply wished to share this.

Can you reverse this infraction, please? Ken C. has expressed multiple times that any time I share a link to anything I have done or are doing, I am "spamming." This, to me, is harassment, given that in some cases he's referring to things that you yourself have seen and on which you have commented.

Thank you for your consideration.

The only reason you're here is to sell yourself and pat yourself on the back because of your books, newspaper column, website, interviews. That's all you do. That's all you've ever done since you've been here and it's getting a bit old. My tolerance level has surpassed your ever growing ego.

Chronic self-promotion and the over use of links to work that is often compensated are glaring and detract from the forums, imho.

Mods please delete if opinions are not welcome in this subforum. I checked but may have missed it in the rules. TX

That's patently false. I contribute to this forum and I'm also a paying member. I put in my experiences and knowledge whenever I can in a knife-related threads, and I post multiple knife reviews (which I post in-line in the reviews section, not as links to my site).

I've taken this matter to Service and Support as I'm supposed to do. I see no reason why I should get further harassment from you on it.

If you can promise me that you will stop the linking to every little thing you've done or will be doing and stop the blatant self promotion and stick to contributing then we can drop this whole issue and I will ask for it to be reveresed. This forum is not your personal ad space. You have a website for that. You have linked to that here as you are allowed with your current membership status. If there are members here who are interested in what you are up to what you have ongoing they can click on your link. But until that happens you are no better than any of the spammers I ban from here on a daily basis.

I think you are simply pursuing a personal grudge against me, and abusing your moderator powers to do it.

I hold no grudge towards you or anyone else. I just don't care for some of your self promotion tactics.

So, with that said...after speaking with another mod I suggest a comprimise...one which you are already allowed to do given your current membership level.

As a Platinum member you are allowed to link to specific things (sale, trade threads in the Exchange for example) in your sig line. Instead of spamming the forum with a new thread every time you have something to promote why don't you just link to it in your sig line? I'm happy, you're happy, and your fans will be happy.

I just don't want to see a new thread everytime you have something to promote.

I'll be "happy" if the infraction is reversed. I consider it unfair, and that is why I am appealing it. I am not some Saudi spammer. I am a contributing member of this forum.

I'll personally ask for it to be reversed if you follow my suggestion.

This is my view as I just posted in a moderator discussion on the suject:

It is NOT right for Sharp Phil or anyone to post whenever they have an announcement about their business. BF threads are not bulletin boards for outside interests.

But it IS all right for a paying member to have a signature line with links to their business and even to individual business events. Sharp Phil should certainly be allowed to modify his sig line with a notice every time he has an interview or puts up a new WND column or sells a book.

As much as I like Phil and yes he does contribute here, I have to agree with Esav and Ken.
This board is not for posting threads for the accomplishments of individuals.

But that's just it -- I have not posted about my "business." I don't receive a dime in compensation for any of the things I've posted about here. I've been very careful not to post anything that would lead to compensation to me if someone looked at it.

Phil, that's sort of like saying a politician doesn't receive a dime for a campaign speech he makes for another politician. It's still in the same line of business and he's still supporting himself in his own livelihood.

That post was made in direct response to a question asked by another member. I did not bring it up.

Then your response should have been......"PM inbound." rather than advertise yourself by linking to Paladin Press who is not a dealer here. This is why you got the Minor Spam warning. If you cannot see the error in what you did or are doing then you are beyond hope. We gave you the alternative and you still have not acknowledged it.
