Spark, is the government threat to outlaw knives another of your forbidden subjects?

I really wonder about your attitude and the protection of the most popular part of your forum. If we cannot talk about the WTC and the effect it is going to have on our ownership of knives on this forum then you are wrong again. I think of you as a friend, but of course I have always been as blunt with my friends as with others. Our rights are in danger of being lost and you want to hide the posts? WRONG!

If people do not flood congress with objections to our rights being reduced our freedom is lost. HELP us all by cutting all of us a little slack.

your friend,

A. G.

If you are talking about the request to post WTC threads in the community forum it was originally done at Ken's request in an effort to centralize them, and that as we are a community they should be in community. Heck even TheFiringLine, where the main topic is firearms, is keeping the posts in their community center. Nobody's hiding anything, otherwise there wouldn't be a post at the top of this forum pointing everyone to where they are.

As far as flooding Congress with objections to our rights being taken away this has been needed all along, and especially now.

It seems that topics relating to the WTC and Pentagon atrociies are being found in this forum as well as in the Community forums. I do not think that after the first day or two that any more threads were moved.

It has been good to know that if I want to share my feelings about what has happened that I could do so without having to look through all the forums. Knowing that they are either in the Community forum or this forum have definitely made them easier to find.

As far as whether we should be doing as much as we can to keep our ability to carry knives, I could not agree with you more A.G.. There is going to be a backlash over this and we must be prepared for it. Contact people in government and let them know how you feel, and support the AKTI in the dealings that they are having with government and regulatory organizations. They are going to need all the help they can get in this matter.

Quite frankly, they really belong in the Knife Laws forum, but since it's general knife information as well, it could go either way. I'm not that much of a hardass. That's why I'm not actively moving those threads out of this forum.

The WTC threads, on the other hand, belong in the community forum because they aren't knife related, except tangentally.

Just my $0.02

Lots of things threaten knife rights. I'm sure that plenty of topics are in gray areas (can't be catagorized easily). Why have different catagories if we just post anything we want in Blade Discussion Forum? It would become so big and bloated that we couldn't find what we want when we need it. The catagories are there for a reason and I trust our moderators to, well, moderate.

Join the AKTI. If there was ever a time, it is now. We are not the bad guys, but most Americans may not know that.

Personally, I like having all of the threads related to the events of September 11th in one forum.

I like the centralization of the WTC threads too. I also think it would be neat if we started a "Dear Congress" thread, where we knife knuts articulate our fears, rights, arguments. etc. on the htread, and then we could send paper copies of the thread to those with the power. The thread could be sent to American politicians, as well as Canadian. Our weapon laws are very restrictive as they are. Thats all anyone needs is to be denied the use of tools that are extremely useful aids to every day living and protect the honest from the dishonest.

An aside: Hey Spark, every time I look at your Avatar I get the urge to go to toys-R-us and look for the Spark G.I. Joe doll!

Mr. Russell,
Look at how many different categories are here. Wouldn't every single one of them be considered suitable for this forum?
Yeah, they have knife content.
But the HMFICs decided to categorize certain areas for the convenience.
If there wasn't a Community Forum, for anything other than knife related topics (Like, "Let's kick some ass!") or a Knife Law Forum, for posts pertaining to KNIFE LAWS, then yeah, you'd have a valid gripe.
But getting onto Spark (or anyone else) for moving a thread to an appropriate place seems, at least to me, unfair.
You're still relatively new to BFC, but after a while, you'll probably see that this makes sense.

Quite frankly, they really belong in the Knife Laws forum,

Exactly! Thank you for your intelligent responses, Spark. No one could in their right mind could fault you for moving this one, either.

Moderator/Goderator feel free to delete this post.
Thankie

It occured to me that neatly organizing all of the posts relating to the events of September 11th is sort of a metaphor. The terrorists created chaos out of order. By organizing our threads, we create order out of chaos. I like that.

Why not create a new forum and invite "big brother" in to look at it? We need to let them know that banning knives (and even multitools apparently) will make the average, honest, and law-abiding person into a criminal. Thanks for listening.:)
