Spark, What Did I Do Wrong? gift memberships

A little over a week ago, I used the PayPal option to buy Gold Memberships for three BF posters. I must have done something wrong, because none of them have been able to re-set themselves to Gold. In fact, one just told me that when he tried, the system asked him for $25 more??!!

I'll happily share more details within anyone who can help me figure out what went wrong.

EDIT: OK, I was partially wrong. ONE of the three has been able to upgrade.
