I was answering a question from Sparky and my answer wasn't clear because I didn't have a photo because all the tools were at work.

The next day I took a photo and that just confused things.
 More photos turned into a separate thread which turned into the novella  that you now see before you. I am hesitant to post on the forum other than "General Discussion" because many people don't watch the "New Posts" list. Hopefully Sparky will see this.

Brace Your Self

Well you asked for it.
Sparky2016 asked for it anyway :D

Why am I even bothering with all this . . . STUFF ?
In the past I was using the thinner SPREADER PLIERS in the photo bellow. They are a Godsend but some times I can’t get them into a gap or they don’t have enough leverage and I have broken them proving that they don’t have enough strength for some tasks. I have a more robust pair of Proto brand at work that are just really nice but I don’t want to break them too.

Why a photo with two of the same pair : First off the rivet is not hollow and is more robust in the one on the right and Second to remind you that you can ALSO use these spreaders in pairs so stock up.

Side view and face view of the gang.

As you can see; if you use one lever you have to hold the work with something and the control is iffy.
Used together in pairs it is almost like using some spreader pliers but I have broken spreader pliers and these levers are much much stronger and have more leverage.

Can’t fit those black and yellow ones in ? Use the thin stainless ones; at least to get things opened up enough to get the thicker levers in. I may even buy a second set of these thin stainless levers and cut the ends off and just use them as simple wedges. They are inexpensive enough to have more than one pair.

Still need more spreading power ? Or can’t get the long levers in to a confined space ? Use the blue Klein wedges (they make many sizes).

When a gap is too wide to use the straighter part of the black and yellow levers one can use the ninety degree bent ends and spread with them. I tell yah these suckers are SO handy in pairs.

All these guys pack into a very small space for how much they can do for you. At least I use this kind of thing all the time. Some, obviously, will have no use for them.

What started all this was the lowly tack puller (the one with the screw driver like handle).
Very handy tool. If you only have one tool in your tool box . . .
well maybe not that good but get one; better yet GET TWO ! ;)
