I've been venturing into some custom/semi-custom knife territory. I've been looking at Spartan Blades (the Akribis) and at Walter Brend Knives (the M2 Marauder and Triple Grind Auto). These knives look fantastic. But I don't know much about these makers aside from what their websites have to say.

So what's the word on these two knife makers ? I'd like to find a nice new EDC @ 5" or under (closed) for no more than $500. These two knife makers look to offer just that. Any opinions ?

I can't speak to the Brend Knives or offer a comparison, but the Akribis is an outstanding knife. I love the handle to blade ratio!
The quality of the Akribis, and all of the Spartan Blades, is off the charts.

Walter Brend has some u tube video's that's informative about his knife making, check them out. There was an article on his Marauder in Blade Magazine last year, don't remember what month. Based on the article I bought the Marauder. It is a well built knife.

I'm in love with that Acribis. It's amazing that it's their first folder.

Those are some interesting grinds on the Brend Knives!

Yes , that's what drew me into looking more closely at the Walter Brend knives.

Also RamZar , I saw your video comparing the Acribis to the Sebenza 25. Excellent video. I've watched it twice so far. I think I'm going to go for the Acribis myself.

I'd like to take a closer look at the Brend triple grind but that may be the extent of it...

The comparison video of Akribis vs. Sebenza 25 is someone else but I have both and agree with that guy.

Oh my mistake. But it's still a good comparison video. As long as I can take the clip off of the Acribis then I'm sold.
