Did Spartan produce a clip point limited edition Astor with carbon fiber laminate ? I got one in a trade and the original owner said it was made for an online dealer. Wicked looking blade,it doesn't look like someones homemade grind job.I found nothing on the web . I don't have pics yet. Thanks in advance!

Not to my knowledge. All of the Astor's I have ever seen were the same drop point blade, just with either the cf laminate or green g10 scales.

Feel like the guy was just trying to make an easier sale of a modified knife (even though it may be well done)

Yeah I had a feeling...$110 trade value and I find them as low as 85 now...sometimes this hobby....oh well caveat emptor

The Astor is a Les George design and he’s pretty much a drop point with swedge guy. If they did a clip point it wouldn’t really be a George.

I guess you’ve already figured it out that you had smoke blown up. If the trade partner was here at BF, consider a feedback thread?

No at a gun show.
Ok, well, when you get the knife give it a real close look with full disassembly. Make sure your lock up is secure and the detent keeps the blade in when closed. A home mod job like this could’ve damaged the integrity of the knife. Be careful.

But who knows, you might have a unique piece of knife history!

Gotta be careful at gun shows lol.

Went to one a few years back and a guy had 2 shitty Chris Reeve Green Beret clones with "Kabar" (not KA-BAR), stamped on the blade. He was also asking like $200 bucks if memory serves.. 🤣

The vendor I got it from is a stand up guy been trading with him for years. If any smoke got blown he got it too lol. Yes many fake knives at gun shows those vendors are as lonely there as the guy selling "genuine custom Damascus " from Pakistan
Yet the mystery deepens! My trading partner was told by the original owner that it came from Spartan at Blade show about 3-4 years ago and there were only a small number made for that show at a cost of $200. Hmm...I will contact Spartan to verify this. It does look factory

Could have been, who knows, lets us know what Spartan says.. There have been plenty of one-off's sold or given away at blade show before. And yea, try and upload pics later. Interested to see what it looks like 👍

The Spartan Astor was only introduced 2 years ago, so that timeline of 3 to 4 years ago is highly suspect.. Contact Spartan, they're very responsive to customer inquiries, and they'll tell you whether it's genuine or not. A lot of your story is very suspect, so I wouldn't hold my breath for good news.

Well Spartan verified the Blade Show story as totally false. Emailed pics to them and customer service said their guys never did the Astor with clip point on it. Many lessons learned from this boondoggle. Now to call my trading buddy and give him the bad news, should be fun. Still can't get my pics on here,Flickr app doesn't work for me and tapatalk won't download. So imagine the Astor with the top swedge removed and you get the idea. Oh well...us knife guys have our bad days

Finally got tapatalk app to work and found Blade forums there. I put pic of Astor there under a new thread and don't see it here? Is the tapatalk forum the same as this one? Hard to believe that I'm not the most tech savvy person ( I still think music cds are cool). Anyway now that I know it's not some rare limited edition I will carry use and enjoy it like good knife it is

Have no idea how the interface between BF and Tapatalk work, but when I first joined I always used Imgur and never had any issues..

Thanks for actually following up and letting us know what they said, most people dont.. Yea, tha Astor isn't such an expensive knife that I would really be mad about it. Like you said, I'd just use and enjoy it!
