Any pros or cons about the Spartan Blades Astor would be appreciated.
Looking for a low cost pocket knife for hiking/camping. Thanks all.

The Astor is one of the most comfortable folding knife handles I have ever held. It has a nice high grind and makes an excellent slicer without feeling fragile. The bushing pivot is incredibly smooth and has none of the drawbacks of a bearing pivot. Les George really knows how to design a good knife, and the execution from Spartan is excellent.

seconded. i enjoyed mine and it doesnt feel chincy at all. bevel was even and lockup was very tight, I was impressed for the cost. I gifted it to my nephew after I saw he was carrying a Boker Kalash around.

great knife.

pros: made in Taiwan. quality is good relative to the price point. xhp steel. blade length to handle ratio, is really well thought out. blade is quite long and useable without being silly or awkward. liner lock is well made on 2 I have. no slipping towards open.

cons: the g10 version texture is a bit rough on pockets. not bad, but bit rougher than needed under the clip. clip screws aren't recessed and hang up a bit on putting in pocket all the way down on jeans or thicker pocket material.

all in all a great design.

Really solid knife. Very comfortable w/ excellent ergos. Good steel. Good fit + finish. Shop around for the best price though, as prices seem to vary wildly across dealers on this model for some reason.. on the low end this knife is an excellent value. On the high end.. meh, it's still ok I guess, but why wouldn't anyone want the best deal possible..
